Just bought my first home and have been "trying" to do some painting. Happy to have found your videos. My son's closet has bifold doors that are painted black with the grooves painted red. Want to paint them white but had a horrible time doing the regular door which was painted the same way. Brushed the grooves and rolled afterwards. 2 coats and still needs 1 more. Used Glidden Premium satin with primer. Any suggestions to make the job easier? Thanks

pappinr the small roller is a 4 inch micro fiber. Those sell for a bit more money than the traditional 4 inch foam or nap rollers but it’s well worth the price difference since it makes a much nicer finish :)

And that leaves a stippled effect which can never be removed so if you want a smooth door use a roller and lay off with a brush

I absolutely hate painting doors. I use a brush and roller method to knock out the door and casing all in one go. It takes me about 30-40 minutes to prep and paint each door. Take the hardware off, tape, drop etc. How long does it take you to do that with this technique?

It’s easier if you just tape off the knob and roll whatever you can catch first and then brush whatever you couldn’t. Because if you brush first and roll after I notice the roller take more paint then the brush so it’ll leave them uneven paint job.

How do you not drip paint of the floor? Because I would doing that...

any reason why you would not use a brush? I thought the roller would leave bubbles

It's called a "blow and go" in the biz. Lol. Get it done fast and with little effort. Then get the hell out of there and into the next job. This guy seems alright though. You get what you pay for.😉

Now show them how bad it runs when you do it that fast and sloppy

It was only fast because the video was sped up. You don't see any flaws in the paint because the doors already have marks in them to make it look like wood

House Painting does involve knowing the facts to keep from getting hurt and being successful.

As a painter I use a brush or if the house is new I spray it after the prep .

Why didn’t he lay it off after rolling it ? I’m a new build house painter from the uk with 22 years experience, when ever we paint doors in new plots we roll them & then lay it off with a brush because over here we do t like the orange peel affect left from rolling (wood work only not walls) Plus we use oil based undercoat/primer & Gloss/Satin

You need to give it a key, then either water based or oil based undercoat then either water or oil based top coat. Generally a gloss or semigloss. If it's fresh wood however you must knot and prime it first
